Sometimes it’s convenient for me to forget that in my youth I was fairly active and slim. In an attempt to get back to a more active lifestyle (and a waistband that isn’t embarrassing to say out loud), I committed to racing in a couple of sprint–length triathlons which I completed in the summer of 2010 (the details of which may be found at my now–defunct training blog , Reluctantly Fit).
My goals for 2011 included…
- Better my time at a sprint–length triathlon (done)
- Better my time in the 5K and 10K (done)
- Complete an Olympic–length triathlon (done*)
- Run a half marathon (done)
…all of which I completed by my 45th birthday.
(* Strictly speaking, I didn’t compete in an Olympic-length, but I did do the Battle of Waterloo so I’m giving myself credit)
